Singer-Songwriter Lou Gold Announces Debut Album
*A Body of Water*
– Out June 6, 2025
Lou Gold, a captivating singer-songwriter originally from London and now living in Sheffield, is thrilled to announce the release of her debut album, *A Body of Water*, on June 6, 2025. Combining lyrical storytelling with an indie-folk sound infused with vintage soul production, Gold’s music has been likened to the works of Frazey Ford, Brittany Howard, Lianne La Havas, and Valerie June. Her thoughtful lyrics and honeyed tones invite listeners to explore themes of nature, transformation, hope and connection. Gold draws inspiration from her surroundings in Sheffield, the nearby Peak District, the faraway sea, and her lifelong passion for people, politics, and the environment. Having honed her craft in bands exploring rock, indie, hip-hop, and breakbeat, she now takes center stage with her first solo project, a sound shaped by her guitar-driven songwriting and vivid storytelling.
In September 2023, Gold took a break from her career in sustainability to record her songs, collaborating with musicians and producers Adam Bowers and Robin G Breeze. The sessions took place at Bowers’ idyllic boathouse studio on the River Orwell in Suffolk, where they created an EP that showcased Gold’s evolution as an artist. The EP itself was never released, because its first two singles caught the attention of sync agency and independent label, West One Music Group, which led to a record deal and the opportunity to craft her debut album.
A Body of Water is a heartfelt testament to Lou’s rich life experiences and her journey of self-discovery, creativity, and resilience. Lou will be playing a tour with her band The Alchemists at venues in Sheffield, Manchester, London and Brighton.
